Did you see the Summit last month?
I did a big for me thing last month.
I took part in the European STEAM educators Summit where I was one of 45 people chosen out of 70 selected to speak on their areas of expertise. Over 1300 people were registered to watch or be sent the recordings! How cool is that!?
It was nerve wracking!
However, we don't grow if we don't get a bit uncomfortable.
So my talk was on screen-free computational thinking activities for Early Years children.
Here's the link to the recording.
I'm at 1:50 if you want to go straight to my presentation.

Please forgive the ending, there were a few tech gremlins keeping us on our toes!
The Importance of Early Coding Education
Coding isn't just about programming; it's about computational thinking. It teaches children problem-solving, logic, and critical thinking skills – all fundamental skills for success in our children’s futures.
Why Unplugged?
We are bombarded by the media talking about the potential downsides of excessive screen time for young children. My approach focuses on hands-on activities that introduce crucial pre-computer coding concepts without screens. My activities are engaging and spark children's curiosity so they end up developing crucial skills whilst having fun and sometimes not even realising they’re learning!
Balancing the screens
If you feel your home would benefit from some balance with screen use and alternative activities to provide initially disgruntled children then my shop has a selection of downloads to purchase.
