CamJam
CamJam celebrates Raspberry Pi’s 13th (unofficial) Birthday!
The first ever Raspberry Pi computer was released 13 years ago, but its birthday was 29th February! So, we will officially celebrate its unofficial 13th birthday on 1st March instead.
This CamJam is being hosted at the University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory (at the William Gates Building) with the support of Raspberry Pi.
Please note: this is a ticketed event with a small admission fee for adults, however if this would affect your ability to attend, please contact us
Children must always be supervised while at CamJam, so if you are under 18, please make sure you are accompanied by a parent or guardian who has their own ticket.
We are fully inclusive of technology: if your project is based around an Arduino, micro:bit or something else, we would still love to see it!
Activities
We are going to be offering an assortment of activities throughout the day, which will include:
• Talks - aimed at a variety of different abilities and on a variety of different topics.
• Workshops - to allow participants to learn and practice skills.
• Show and Tell - an area for makers to show off their projects and talk to Jam participants about them.

Unplugging the future: Fostering tech talent through early years play
As a mother of two pre-teen daughters, Hannah is deeply passionate about creating a world where every child, regardless of gender, ethnicity and socio-economic background, has the opportunity to thrive in the digital age. In today's rapidly evolving tech-driven world, critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity are more crucial than ever.
At Unplugged Tots, we believe these essential skills are best nurtured in early childhood through engaging, screen-free play. Play is not just fun; it's essential for cognitive, social, and emotional growth. It builds crucial skills like problem-solving, creativity, collaboration, and resilience – all vital for success in any field, including technology, business, and leadership.
Even though the activities used within Unplugged Tots are screen-free, it isn't about restricting technology, but about having a healthy respect and awareness for it. Children need the foundational skills associated with technology to navigate and shape our increasingly tech-driven world.
Hannah will be discussing how to introduce core computational thinking concepts like decomposition, pattern recognition, and algorithmic thinking through hands-on, interactive play. These skills are not just for future coders; they are essential for everyone, from entrepreneurs and innovators to employees at all levels.
By fostering these skills in early childhood, we can empower the next generation to smash that glass ceiling and become successful leaders in their chosen fields.
