Have you prepared anything for Christmas Advent Calendars?
It isn’t a massive secret that I love Christmas. If I had my way, my house would be dripping with lights, inflatables and all sorts of Christmas paraphernalia but then I think of the electricity bill and the environmental impact of all that energy use and reign it back in.
That’s not to say Christmas is subdued by any means. However, one thing I stared a couple of years ago as part of our tradition is home made Christmas advent calendar. My mum bought me a string of little pouches with numbers on, big enough for a couple of chocolate coins and a little card.
I’ve refined what goes on those cards, keep a few spare and adjust it depending on the school and family calendar but I’ve included a selection of ideas that could help you if you’d like to go with the more home-made/rustic option of an advent calendar this year. Some are more involved than others but some are really really lovely things to do.
My favourite – get dressed up warm, flasks of hot chocolate and walk around spotting festively decorated houses! Then I feel in the Christmas sprit even more – if that’s possible!!
Yes, yes, I know it’s not particularly Unplugged Tots in that there’s no underlying Computational thinking concept going on in these activities but they’re all Unplugged - other than a family movie!!
Hope this helps if you need it anyway!
