Pattern recognition activities
I’ve been busy working on some printable activities for you to do with your children when its a bit drab and grey outside.
There are so many toys and activities that we, as parents can do with our children. I am guilty though, of the TV being my default option and I am really working hard on being more ‘present’ with my children when the weather is a bit miserable. So, I wanted to help other parents with this and I have some really quick short activities that are fun and easy to set up.
The beauty of these activities is you can keep them and use them again and again, always a winner in my book!
Pattern recognition is one of the key computational thinking concepts. I love pattern recognition so much as its such a nice gentle way to introduce some computer coding concepts to young children. Your children will also see pattern recognition when they start leaning some maths skills at nursery and school.
These are also great to take on holiday and when we visit family and friends. I’ve used them when visiting friends who don’t have children and so no toys to play with. It kept them occupied for a while and then they ended up combining some of the packs to spot the odd one out in the pattern.
So many skills and discussions can come from these activities, I hope you have fun with them.
